While the individual organizations of The American Legion Family are unique, collectively we are a driving force dedicated to service. Members of The American Legion, American Legion Auxiliary, Sons of The American Legion and American Legion Riders comprise the Legion Family; we have a combined membership of nearly 4.2 million members.
The American Legion Family has influenced considerable social change in America, won hundreds of benefits for veterans, helped military families through transition and produced many important programs for our country’s youth.
American Legion Auxiliary
The American Legion Auxiliary is the largest auxiliary patriotic service organization. The Auxiliary supports our nations’ veterans, military, and their families. Membership in the American Legion Auxiliary shall be limited to the grandmothers, mothers, sisters, spouses, and direct and adopted female descendants of members of The American Legion, and to the grandmothers, mothers, sisters, spouses, and direct and adopted female descendants of all men and women who were in the Armed Forces of the United States during the eligible period and male spouses of female veterans who are members of the Auxiliary.
Sons of the American Legion
Sons of The American Legion, founded in 1932, is a Legion program to honor the service and sacrifice of Legionnaires. Members include males of all ages whose parents or grandparents served in the U.S. military and were eligible for American Legion membership.
American Legion Riders
American Legion Riders obviously enjoy riding their motorcycle; but they ride with a purpose. They are a powerhouse in fundraising for American Legion Programs. Members of The American Legion Riders are required to be motorcycle owners and current members of The American Legion, American Legion Auxiliary or Sons of The American Legion.
