IMPORTANT WARNING — Illegal Slot Machines and Simulated Gambling Devices
ALL POSTS: STOP OPERATING ILLEGAL SLOT MACHINES AND SIMULATED GAMBLING DEVICES IMMEDIATELY.
Calling a machine a “skill game” does not, by itself, make its operation legal. Post officers must review machines on their premises and stop using any device that may be illegal until its status is confirmed with the Colorado Division of Gaming.
Colorado Revised Statutes § 18-10.5-102 defines simulated gambling devices, and § 18-10.5-103 prohibits unlawful offering of such devices; a violation is a class 2 misdemeanor. State enforcement can include fines and other applicable penalties.
DEPARTMENT WARNING: In addition to any state fines or other penalties, Posts operating illegal gambling devices will face Department penalties through the Department Executive Committee (DEC), in accordance with applicable governing documents and procedures. This matter will be taken seriously. Do not rely on a vendor’s assurance that a machine is legal.
For questions or to verify a machine’s status, contact the Colorado Division of Gaming. Please also notify Department Headquarters of any concerns.
