Hello JVCs and District Officers,
As you know, the Oratorical is one of our great programs under both the Americanism and Children and Youth Pillars. You may not know that at the Spring meetings last May, the NEC passed a resolution that calls for civic education to be a fixture in America's classrooms to promote service and patriotism and uphold the ideals of American democracy.
I've heard many echo the sentiment that lack of civic awareness and understanding is at the root of so many of the issues in our country today. The Oratorical Contest is specifically aimed at addressing this issue. But we need every District to support this program in various ways including:
- Recruiting students
- Serving as volunteers
- Raising funds
This year's contest is on February 6 at The Golden View Classical Academy in Golden, Colorado.
